DAMAGE PROTECTION
All flowers, shrubs, trees, doors, fences, etc… will be covered. All grass in areas damaged by falling shingles debris will be covered. All objects like barbecues, statues, tables, chairs, etc… will be moved and returned upon roof completion. We are a fully bonded,insured and licensed corporation to ensure complete damage protection. This protects you, your property, your belongings, and the workers.
REMOVAL OF OLD SHINGLES
After the old shingles have been removed, the roof deck will be inspected for any protruding nails or unfastened roof boards. The protruding nails will be nailed back down and the boards will be fastened correctly according to local building codes.
ANY ROTTED WOOD WILL BE CHANGED FREE OF CHARGE
Up to 32 square feet of plywood for roof deck repair. On most roofs with some wood rot, this is usually enough wood to replace all the rotten areas. Be aware of other companies charging you for wood replacement when choosing your roofing contractor. If there is an additional wood
needing to be replaced over the amount of free wood supplied, there will be a charge for the roof replacement plywood at the current selling rate, plus a small labour charge for installation. Call us for current wood replacement rates.
BEFORE SHINGLING
Premium Ice and Water shields will be installed on all edges of the roof deck, up all walls, up all valleys, and around all chimneys and skylights to ensure water tightness. Our local building code calls for this to help stop the formation of condensation. Beware of companies not using proper underlay or not up to code. Helps prevent ice damming.
APPLICATION OF SHINGLES
Self-sealing shingles of the customer’s colour choice will be applied after the roof deck has been inspected, rotten wood replaced, and loose wood
nailed down. Ajax Roofing takes pride in nailing the shingles properly on the manufacturer’s extremely important nail line. Other
companies tend to nail too fast and miss the line which results in issues with the warranty of shingles and shingle blow-offs in high winds.
APPLICATION OF FLASHING
If new flashing is needed and/or wanted, we will install pre-painted steel metal. If the flashing is not being changed, it will be thoroughly inspected and re-caulked if necessary.
NAILS
We only use galvanized steel nails of the highest quality. Be aware of roofers using ungalvanized nails that will rust and fail to hold down the
shingles in years to come.
VALLEYS
Pre-painted 24” roof valleys will be installed with 3 ft of ice & water underneath to ensure water tightness. Beware of competitors who do not
use ice & water and use 18” valleys.
VENTS
Steel dome ventilators, and bird, animal-proof build-ins will be installed after the shingle installation to ensure that workers walking on the
roof will not damage vents. Please be aware of other companies that offer plastic vents, they do not last are prone to animal damage and
always leak after 8 years, and fade even quicker.
VENT PIPE FLASHINGS
The highest quality DURAFLO vent pipe flashings will be installed onto all vent pipes.
ELECTRICAL POLE SADDLE
A steel saddle pan will be installed in front of the electrical pole. Other companies only caulk the pole; this is not acceptable for water tightness
CAULKING
We only use premium TREMCO caulking to ensure complete water tightness for the entire life of your roof. Beware of other companies using
asphalt-based caulking, as they have a short life span. Caulking is also colour-coordinated with the flashings
EAVES TROUGH CLEANING
All eaves troughing will be cleaned with the aid of air-blowing machines. All eaves trough downspouts and elbows will be blown clean of all
debris making a clean path for water and ice to flow.
CLEANUP
The premises will be thoroughly and completely cleaned upon completion of the roof. All nails will be removed from the grass with the aid of magnetic brooms. All garbage will be removed from the premises. All objects like chairs, tables, etc… will be returned to their original places. We take
pride in our perfect clean-up jobs. When we leave you will not be able to tell that we were even there. We cannot accept household garbage
in bins. We have made an agreement with a disposal company for our waste and roof materials ONLY. If any other materials are found they will be taken out and placed at the side, if not seen until dumped, a surcharge may apply.
